I had the same issue with the head spins the first time I ever took an antidepressant, and then the first time I ever took an antipsychotic - the first dose and then a tiny bit with the second day but nowhere near as much. For the record, it never happened again even when I started new medications.

There's a chance you may have had high anxiety over it (a small chance they caused some anxiety too, this can be a side affect) causing shortness of breath, the dizziness can be scary and set off a panic attack. Regardless, speaking to a doctor couldn't hurt, but personally that side affect was a one off.

Hi,

I started taking antidepressants for anxiety. On my first day after a few hours of taking the medicine I started feeling very dizzy, with shortness of breath and end up fainting.

I was unconscious for 2 minutes. Now i am scared that it can happen again.

Hi Benficaslb,

Thanks for posting! Oh no, that's awful. I've had my fair share of side effects too with different medications. Is this something that you've spoken to your GP about? What did they say?

rt

Hello and welcome.

That sounds scary! I would blame you for being nervous about it happening again. I assume you would have received information with the medication about side effects - there are some common and those not so common etc. If that happened to you I would at worst write it down and otherwise chat with your GP.

Hello Benficaslb, I can understand the fear you may have experienced, however, if you can contact your doctor and explain what's happened they may provide a script for a much lower dose and let your body slowly adjust to this lower dosage and remember if you are needing this medication for anxiety then naturally you could be automatically frightened in taking it.

Geoff.

Life Member.

I know exactly how you feel I just started on medication yesterday. After 3-4hours I was dizzy, had racing heart, diarrhea, fuzzy head and a weird feeling like I wasn't in my body. Same thing happened again when I took it today. I’m defiantly not going to take it tomorrow i won’t be able to go to work.
