Hello Sever, can I just that for 58 years I've had to struggle with OCD, I forget to mention that in my previous post as I was logging off, so I'm sorry.

I like Grandy's reply and do agree with her.

The trouble with having these thoughts is that it does scare us, then we don't know why on earth we are having and more importantly how we can stop them.

I have mentioned my intrusive thoughts on this site before but what happened is that I wanted to hit my dear Mum, I don't know why because I loved her, but <G class="gr_ gr_22 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" id="22" data-gr-id="22">everytime</G> we went to visit Mum and Dad, with our two young sons, these thoughts plagued my mind but nobody knew about them, only me.

When Mum was put into a nursing home, against her will, because her mind was 100%, but she couldn't walk after a knee operation and wasn't given any therapy, that's when these thoughts suddenly stopped.

She couldn't be harmed any more, she knew what will happen to her while she's in there, and <G class="gr_ gr_17 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="17" data-gr-id="17">unfortunately</G> she passed away after 12 years.

No matter how difficult these thoughts are, they generally never happen, but would like to hear back from you. Geoff.

I am so sorry that you feel alone, and no, you are not useless at all, anxiety can make people have these thoughts which aren't true, but you think they are happening.

I'm not qualified to say but from <G class="gr_ gr_33 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="33" data-gr-id="33">experience</G> I think that you maybe having 'intrusive thoughts'.

Anxiety can bring these thoughts on, thoughts of wanting to do something to someone you love.

Hello Server,

I would also like to welcome you to the forums.

Geoff has given you great post..

Server, I struggle with anxiety as well as a few more mh issues, I can relate to your feelings of loneliness quite easily, anxiety stops me from going outside and talking face to face with most people.

I can assure you that you are not useless, as Geoff said that is your anxiety telling you, so please listen to us and not your anxiety..

When I get the negative thoughts start going my mind, I find the best way to deal with them is by distracting my thoughts onto something else..I usually find something I like doing to keep my mind focused onto that..ie: mind challenging internet games, read a book, gardening, crossword, hobbies, Your mind can basically only have one thought at a time, so by doing something mindfully your thoughts are diverted from negativity to more positives while doing some distractions.

When I first felt unwell with severe anxiety I rang my gp and made a long appointment and told her my thoughts, fears and how afraid I was at just talking to people...My gp listened and referred me to professional councilling..now with meds and councilling I'm beginning to feel better and understand my anxiety better and how to manage it...Maybe you could also do this sever...

Please sever, look after yourself and I also hope to hear back from you, to let us know how your feeling.

Warm and kind thoughts,

Grandy
