Hi, just reaching out to introduce myself. I’m a mum of two, my young son has ASD and I find daily life with him very challenging. I cry a lot. He can be quite aggressive and say the most horrible things when he is heightened. He can be such a kind gentle boy and it breaks my heart to see him so confused and angry, I want more than anything to help him and protect him. Outwardly I think I appear pretty proactive and ‘together’ to most people, but I’m deeply depressed and feel very alone. My closest friend of 16 years has been my beautiful cat. I work from home and so we have been together every day since I adopted her. She died in January and I’m really struggling to cope without her. She was my comfort and my safe place when my son has his meltdowns, and now I’ve lost my best friend. I just desperately want her to be back here with me.

Hi, welcome

You are wuite an achiever, whether you know it or not?

My wife's cat passed on at 17yo. I always wanted a dog. So I waited for 6 weeks then told her I've always wanted a fog.

That was 8 years ago. We bought a mini foxy pup, Rosie, and she has been the most loyal lovable fiesty little girl.

The healing process quickened up. I think that might be a wise move.

Ps. I just wished I'd bought two dogs as the focy/javk russells are small house dogs and they'd keep each other amused.

We font stop laughing at our baby

New member ... hello

Hello <G class="gr_ gr_5 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="5" data-gr-id="5">Leelacat</G>, thanks for posting your comment and I'm sorry that your son has ASD (autism) and don't really appreciate what your day would entail, but understand it must be complex.

Having a cat you've loved so much for such a long time and was always there to comfort and even console you <G class="gr_ gr_612 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" id="612" data-gr-id="612">has</G> now passed away is really upsetting, and it's left an emptiness, a spot in your heart that leaves a huge gap, something which you are suffering from.

It's never easy deciding whether or not to go and get another cat, friends or family say it would do you good to get another one, but it's not that easy, it feels like a betrayal to the one that has passed away, that how I felt after my dog of 18 years passed away, but I was fortunate enough to have another <G class="gr_ gr_455 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="455" data-gr-id="455">puppie</G>.

It still took me a while to connect but now she is my shadow and I love her.

I hope you are able to have another cat, one which you can cuddle and one that can help you through your days.

Best wishes.

Geoff.
