Hi Gigi,

Welcome to the forums. I hope you find some support and advice here.

Depression doesn't always happen because things in your life are terrible. Sometimes it just happens for no reason.

This can make us feel guilty! After all if our life is good then why aren't we happy?

If you have been feeling this way for longer than a few weeks then getting some professional help is a great idea.

Your GP is a good place to start. It's a good idea to book a double appointment to make sure you have enough time to go through everything. Your doctor can write a mental health plan for you and refer you to a psychologist.

Of course you can always come back to Beyond Blue and call the helpline if you want to talk to someone straight away.

kind thoughts, Jess

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I'm a recent graduate who is currently employed as a process worker. Although, I hate my job I have something to earn money. I have a loving boyfriend and my father doesn't like my relationship but other than that I don't have any big family problems in my life.

The reason I decide to visit this forum is because I feel sad, depressed and lonely for sometimes now. It feels like something missing, like empty or void. When someone asked me why, I don't know how to answer because even I don't know why. Those feeling affects my daily work as well. I don't feel like searching for new jobs or do any chores of my home.

Can someone please explain me whether I need to seek a professional or help me how not to feel this way.

Hi Gigi and welcome to the BB forums

Jess has a really good suggestion regarding seeing a gp. This is usually a good first step as they can get you Medicare rebated psychology session (without this it is all out of pocket)

Have you looked at information on depression on the beyond blue website there is a tab on the top of the website under 'the facts' and under there is subsections including depression, anxiety and K10. I also suggest doing the K10. If will help you with your decision to talk to your go about this

I found for me I questioned getting help for ages. I wish I had done it sooner. I could have not felt so number and and empty for so long. I started to feel better once I opened up to my GP and started seeing my therapist (psychologist). I could figure out why I felt this way and move forward
